A man who caused a fatal crash while taking his daughter's friends on a joyride in Adelaide has been spared jail by a District Court judge.
The court heard Mark Anthony Ballard was driving with a group of his daughters friends at Penfield, in the city's north, on Australia Day in 2010 when he crashed.
Ballard, 52, admitted to driving at up to 150 kilometres per hour during the joyride.

Carmaker Holden is in discussions with staff and unions about cutting costs at its South Australian plant.
In a statement, the company says it plans to make "labour-related cost reductions and productivity improvements" at the Elizabeth site.
The statement does not say what form the cost-cutting will take, but managing director Mike Devereux indicated that workers may be asked to forego some of their rights.
Mr Devereux says the carmaker, which is owned by US company General Motors, cannot survive in Australia without cutting costs and that "all options are on the table".
